Five Amish Girls Murdered in One-Room Schoolhouse…
High School Principal Gunned Down…
Six High School Girls Molested At Gun Point, One Girl Killed…
Teenagers’ Plan to Shoot Classmates Foiled…
THIS HAS TO STOP - NOW!
Dear Friend,
In a spate of school shootings gripping America, innocent children have been swept up in a tidal wave of deadly violence. In 2006 alone:
- Eleven young girls taken hostage in a one-room Amish school in Pennsylvania. The gunman burst into the school and murdered five of the girls by shooting them in the head. He critically wounded five others before killing himself.
- A 15-year-old brought two guns to school in rural Wisconsin and fatally shot his principal after being disciplined for having tobacco on school grounds.
- A gunman took six girls hostage at a High School in Colorado. The gunman sexually molested the girls, and shot and killed one of them. He then killed himself when police stormed into the classroom.
- Police in New Jersey foiled an apparent shooting rampage planned by four high school boys. The teens, who had paid for an arsenal of illegal weapons, allegedly were going to time the attack to mark the anniversary of the Columbine shootings.
Like you, we in Ceasefire NJ are horrified by the rash of shootings besetting our country. It’s time our country changed direction and acted to stop gun violence!
Thanks to your support, Ceasefire NJ has been at the cutting edge of fighting to stop gun violence in our schools and communities for over 20 years. We led a five-year campaign that culminated with New Jersey becoming the first state to pass a Childproof Handgun bill. A Princeton University study showed that legislation like ours could prevent school shootings like those above, and estimated it could save the lives of over 3,000 of our precious children each year!
But we can only move forward to make sure the Childproof Handgun bill and similar legislation to stop gun trafficking is passed and fully implemented with your help. Please make as generous a donation as possible to Ceasefire NJ right now, so we can enter the New Year with the organizational resources to take on this urgent challenge.
The truth is the United States has too many guns, too many weak gun laws, and not enough solutions. We shouldn’t wait for another tragedy before we take a stand and say:
This has to stop - NOW.
